Bob Meadows joined Valley Strong Credit Union in October 2023 after five years at the City of Shafter as Business Development Director. He is now the Director of Community Relations and supports all 32 branches and their communities.

He spent the 40 years prior to his government work at multiple banks of various sizes as a branch manager, business developer, community leader, commercial loan officer, and leadership trainer. He also led statewide manager committees.

Bob was an Honors Graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington in Seattle. His final thesis was a finalist for the school archives.

He has done speeches and professional workshops for local chambers, high schools, colleges, service clubs, and non-profits. Bob also serves as Master of Ceremonies at various special events and continues to follow his passion for mentoring young professionals.

Bob’s current community involvement includes serving as an Advisory Board Member for the Alzheimer’s Association of Kern County (ADAKC) and as group leader for the Links for Life of Bakersfield Strong Links Hangout group of husbands of breast cancer survivors.

He graduated from Boron High School, then earned an A.A. Degree in Journalism at Bakersfield College while serving as editor of The Renegade Rip newspaper. He later worked at KUZZ Radio as a news reporter.

Bob and his wife Vicki , a retired banker and 11-year breast cancer survivor, celebrated 46 years of marriage last November. They are the pet parents of three 13-year-old sister cats and a 3-year-old Chocolate Lab.

In 2018, Bob won the Beautiful Bakersfield Award for Business Person of the Year.
