Sterling Silver

The Sterling Silver Gala is the crown jewel of Bakersfield College Foundation events, celebrating the individuals and companies whose generosity makes an innovative and meaningful college education possible for Kern County students. This special evening brings “all the sparkle” and features a delicious meal, prepared by BC’s chefs and culinary students, paired with curated wines to bring out the best flavor possible.

This multi-course dining experience and awards ceremony is always a sellout, bringing together community leaders, philanthropists, and supporters of Bakersfield College. The Sterling Silver Gala is held in the Renegade Event Center atop the new Campus Center building. A portion of proceeds benefit the Sterling Silver and the Culinary Arts Scholarships.

This year’s honorees include:

Philanthropists of the Year:

Southern California Orthopedic Institute (SCOI) – SCOI and Drs. Mark Schamblin and Jarrad Merriman provide invaluable support to Bakersfield College, both financially and through their dedicated service to the college’s athletics program. As team orthopedists for Bakersfield College Athletics, they have collectively contributed more than 1,000 hours to ensuring BC athletes receive prompt care and treatment during and after athletic events.

Manohara Family Foundation – Jayashree Manohara understands the challenges faced by nursing students and she established the Manohara Family Scholarship to support those experiencing additional hardships or demands. Many recipients of this scholarship are parents striving to balance family responsibilities, coursework, and clinical rotations, often while maintaining a job.

Bakersfield College Service Medal:

Morgan Clayton – Morgan Clayton, a proud alumnus of Bakersfield College, credits BC with paving the way for the success of his business, Tel-Tec, which he founded in 1982. Since then, Mr. Clayton has given back generously to
the college by supporting initiatives such as the Launchpad
entrepreneur program, Umoja, Archives, and the Alumni Association.
